SonicLayer 1200 from Fabrisonic uses UAM technology for small-scale production

Fabrisonic offers the SonicLayer® 1200. The small-footprint 3D printer uses ultrasonic additive manufacturing (UAM) technology for R&D and small-scale production.

UAM creates strong bonds between dissimilar metals without creating brittle metallurgy. The system also works with such alloys as copper and aluminum. A variety of material combinations can be printed in a single part, opening the design space to enable property gradients and engineered material.

The process allows sensors to be embedded anywhere in a metal structure, enabling health monitoring, complex process control, and IoT.
