Made In Space receives NASA funding for hybrid metal 3-D printer

Made In Space has won a NASA contract to continue developing its Vulcan hybrid metal manufacturing system. The system prints with both polymers and metals, such as titanium and aluminum, combining additive manufacturing (AM) with traditional machining.

The plan is for the system to produce parts that require the strength and durability possible with aerospace-grade materials, such as housing for life support systems.
