Amada acquires band saw manufacturer

Amada Holdings Co. Ltd. has acquired Marvel Mfg. Inc., Oshkosh, Wis. The band saw manufacturer will become an Amada subsidiary and will be renamed Amada Marvel Inc.

For more than 100 years, Marvel has manufactured and sold metal cutting machines, parts, and blades in North America. The company’s main product is its vertical tilt-frame band saw line. The saws are commonly used to cut lightweight structural steels.

The Amada Group will develop special blades for the vertical tilt-frame band saws in Japan, and Amada Marvel will sell them in North America. Plans also call for the band saws to be sold through Amada Group sales channels in regions outside of North America.

Amada officials have suggested the possibility of using Amada Marvel manufacturing facilities to fabricate peripheral equipment for metal cutting machines.
