Talon Metals and USW partner to advance Tamarach Nickel Project

Talon Metals Corp. and the United Steelworkers (USW) union have announced a workforce development partnership to advance the Tamarack Nickel Project in Tamarack, Minn. Located 54 miles west of Duluth, Minn., the project is the only undeveloped high-grade nickel deposit in the U.S. with the prospect to create an integrated U.S.-based nickel supply chain for the electric vehicle (EV) industry.

As part of the agreement, the USW will work collaboratively with Talon management to plan for the potential production and maintenance workforce required at the Tamarack Nickel Project and develop a strategic plan for future recruitment. The proposed mine is expected to require a mix of experienced underground miners and miners with skills in automation, AI, and computer modeling. The project is expected to create 500 full-time jobs.
