In the second episode of our seven-part Talkin' Shop series interviewing contestants from the Netflix show Metal Shop Masters, we talk with Las Vegas-based metal art sculptor Luis Varela-Rico, aka Lou.

Varela-Rico, a Mexican-American born in Guadalajara, Mexico, has a number of large-scale metal art sculptures scattered around Las Vegas. He talks about how he got into public art installations, how his love of art cars got him into metalworking, how he uses technology to collaborate with other metal artists, and how he overcame his reluctance about appearing on a Netflix reality show.
