MAC3.0 function added to Salvagnini’s P2 panel bender

Salvagnini has updated its P2 panel bender with MAC3.0, a set of integrated technologies—sensors, formulas, and algorithms—to make the machine even more intelligent, according to the manufacturer.

In addition to adapting the bending force to the mechanical characteristics of the sheet metal being machined, which was possible with the MAC2.0 version, the new function extends the range of machinable materials and allows new ones to be defined simply and intuitively if necessary. The user loads the sheet metal onto the worktable, and the new function measures the material's strength in real time. This reference value is saved so the new material can be called up as needed. The panel bender adapts the bending force as necessary to keep working within the parameters.

The function calculates tensile strength in about 0.3 second. The measurement is always made on the first bend, and if the value measured differs from the reference value and the bending force has to be modified, the reworking time is less than one second.
