AWS awards Welding Workforce Grants to 11 schools

The AWS Foundation recently awarded its Welding Workforce Grant to 11 secondary, postsecondary, and welder training facilities that seek to enhance and improve their welding education programs:

  • Central Nine Career Center – Greenwood, Ind.
  • Centro de Innovacion y Desarrollo Tecnologico en Soldadura – CIDTS - Santa Catarina - Nuevo Leon, Mexico
  • City College at Montana State University Billings - Billings, Mont.
  • Florida Carpenters Training Trust Fund – Tampa, Fla.
  • John Hersey High School – Arlington Heights, Ill.
  • Jones County Junior College – Ellisville, Miss.
  • Missouri State University – West Plains - West Plains, Mo.
  • Northern Westmoreland CTC – New Kensington, Pa.
  • Rappahannock Community College – Warsaw, Va.
  • South Fort Myers High School – Fort Myers, Fla.
  • WorkForce Innovators of America – Athens, Ga.

Grant funding of up to $25,000 per location is awarded for facilities to make improvements, invest in capital items such as welding or metalworking equipment, or purchase/upgrade computers or computer-based training systems.
