ExOne expands 3-D printing material offerings with 304L stainless steel

The ExOne Co., a provider of 3-D printing machines, materials, and services, has released 304L stainless steel as a printable material through its production service center in North Huntingdon, Pa., and as a qualified material on its printers.

The stainless steel can be used on the company’s binder jetting 3-D printers. Binder jetting allows users to 3-D print complex parts that cannot be created with traditional subtractive manufacturing methods and commonly has a lower cost to manufacture than other additive manufacturing technologies, the company says. In addition to high-density, single-alloy materials such as 304L, 316L, and 17-4PH, the production service center offers printing of matrix metals including 420 stainless steel infiltrated with bronze and 316 stainless steel infiltrated with bronze.
