NanoSteel launches Formetrix to commercialize AM metals

NanoSteel®, a provider of nanostructured steel materials, has announced the spinout of its additive manufacturing (AM) business unit into a new corporation named Formetrix™.

The new company’s metal powder portfolio for 3-D printing combines high hardness, high ductility, and high wear resistance. Its initial industry focus is on materials for hot and cold forming tool and dies (such as for molding, casting, and stamping) within the automotive, oil and gas, and heavy machinery markets.

The firm uses AddUp’s FormUp 350 3-D printer to support prototyping and volume customer requirements.
