Norsk Titanium PDQC added to Qualified Producer’s List

Norsk Titanium, a Norway-based company that supplied the first aerospace-grade, 3-D-printed titanium components for Boeing, has been added to the Qualified Producers List for the multinational aircraft corporation through its Plattsburgh, N.Y., Development and Qualification Center.

The facility currently houses nine Merke IV additive manufacturing machines that operate using Norsk’s patented Rapid Plasma Deposition (RPD) technology. A type of directed energy deposition, RPD melts a titanium wire feedstock in an inert argon environment. The facility began producing aerospace titanium components under the Boeing contract in May.
