SAE 2018 Additive Manufacturing in Motion Symposium announces keynote speakers

SAE Intl. has announced the three keynote speakers for the SAE 2018 Additive Manufacturing in Motion Symposium, to be held in Cleveland March 13-14, 2018. Technical experts from automobile and aerospace OEMs, Tier 1 and 2 suppliers, and government and academia, will discuss this evolving technology.

The symposium will open at 8:30 a.m. on March 13 with a keynote address from Richard Grylls of SLM Solutions focusing on the rapid advances in the ability of metal additive manufacturing (AM) to meet stringent production standards in transportation industries. He also will discuss the applications expected to emerge in the next three to five years.

At 1:30 p.m. on March 13, Greg Hayes will provide the second keynote presentation. Hayes is a strategic technology development consultant with a strong background in high-end R&D and a focus in materials science and engineering. He currently is the director of consulting and applications of EOS North America, where he works to identify market needs and uses of AM to develop products to fulfill those requirements.

March 14 will open at 8:30 a.m. with a keynote from Paula Hay, executive director for additive design and manufacturing for UTC Aerospace Systems. Her presentation will look at the challenges for AM and how they may be overcome as AM in aerospace becomes a reality.
