Compact metal 3D printer prevents exposure to powder

Alpha Lasers says its AL3D-METAL 250 3D printer is designed to prevent the operator from being exposed to metal powders. The system draws powder from cartridges, and its closed process chamber and small build platform help maximize powder use while optimizing safety. The operator doesn’t contact metal powder during the printing process.

Additionally, the 250’s intuitive software allows operation by novices and experts alike, says the manufacturer, adding that the unit’s 24-in.-sq. footprint allows the machine to be located nearly anywhere. Equipped with a 250-W fiber laser, its fine laser spot and high beam quality allow building complex geometries, according to Alpha Lasers.
