CRP Tech releases fiber-filled composite for 3D printing

CRP Technology has released the 10th material in its Windform Top-Line range of composite materials formulated and developed for 3D printers based on laser polymer melting technology.

Windform RS is a polyamide-based carbon-fiber-filled composite that boasts a tensile strength of 85.25 MPa, ductility of 9.46% (elongation at break), and a 1.10 g/cm3 density. The material reportedly is highly resistant to damage from shock, vibration, deformation, and high and low temperatures.

CRP also claims RS resists liquid absorption even when wall thicknesses get down to 1 mm, and the material has a UL 94 flammability rating of HB, the least flammable on the UL scale.

The manufacturer recommends the material for printing functional prototypes and heavy-duty end-use parts found in the aerospace, defense, automotive, and robotics industries.
