NABE Survey: Terrorism biggest threat to economy

A member survey conducted by the National Association for Business Economics (NABE) found 40 percent of respondents named terrorism as the largest short-term threat to the economy, more than double the number reported six months ago. Terrorism has overtaken weak job growth and the budget deficit, and inflation fears are rising.

Twenty-three percent of respondents reported the growing U.S. deficit as the biggest concern, down from 25 percent in March. Inflation was cited by 9 percent as opposed to six percent in March and 1 percent a year ago.

Unemployment concern declined to 6 percent, down from 25 percent six months ago. However, the survey was conducted before the disappointing July job report.
