Silgan acquires Van Can Co.

Silgan Holdings Inc., Stamford, Conn., a supplier of rigid packaging for shelf-stable food and other consumer goods products, has acquired substantially all of the assets and assumed certain specified limited liabilities of Van Can Co., San Diego, a manufacturer of metal containers. The acquired business, with sales of about $40 million, includes two metal container manufacturing facilities.

Silgan operates 89 manufacturing facilities in North and South America, Europe, and Asia.
