Abrasive disc eliminates cutting damage to complex workpieces

Pferd has extended its COMBIDISC® line with A-Contour abrasive discs. The discs have a scalloped edge pattern that finishes without cutting or gouging the metal. The discs' soft outer contour makes them suitable for finishing tight contours and concave surfaces with radius transitions.

The tools eliminate rework and extra finishing time while reducing vibration, noise, and dust, according to the manufacturer. With a diameter of 2.375 in., the aluminum oxide discs are intended to be run on 2-in.-dia. backing pads with such locking mechanisms as Turn-On, PSG, Roloc™, and Lockit.

The discs are suitable for use in tool- and moldmaking, modeling, mechanical engineering, and automotive and aerospace applications.
