Safety bumper integrates with existing control system to provide Category 3 system

March 23, 2010

Rockford Systems offers a safety bumper system designed to provide protection from hazardous machine conditions. The industrial-grade, pressure-sensitive, four-wire safety device has a built-in sensor. When a person or object comes in contact with the safety bumper, a signal is sent to stop the machine. Each safety bumper is fabricated of yellow, heavy-duty, reinforced vinyl and has a 6-ft. cable and an aluminum mounting channel.

When properly integrated with an existing control system, the safety bumper and a safety interface control provide a Category 3 safety system. Typical applications for the safety bumper include automated manufacturing, packaging and material handling, moving conveyor systems, moving platforms and lifts, and automated guided vehicles.
