Belt conveyor oven heat-treats coiled spring steel

Grieve has supplied No. 866, a 550-degrees-F belt conveyor oven, to a customer for heat treating coiled spring steel. Oven workspace dimensions are 18 in. by 20 ft. by 15 in. Nichrome wire heating elements deliver 60 kW to heat the oven, while a 4,200-CFM, 3-HP recirculating blower provides vertical downward airflow to the work load.

The oven travel comprises a 1-1/2-ft.-long, open-belt loading zone; 20-ft.-long insulated heat zone with recirculated airflow; 1-ft.-long open zone; 12-ft.-long cooling zone; and 1-1/2-ft.-long open unloading zone.
