Spartan Motors launches Detroit Truck Manufacturing

Spartan Motors Inc., Charlotte, Mich., a provider of specialty vehicle manufacturing and assembly for the commercial and retail vehicle industries and emergency-response and RV markets, has launched Detroit Truck Manufacturing (DTM).

Located in Madison Heights, Mich., this captive channel supplier will provide fabricated aluminum cabs for Spartan's firetrucks, as well as the cab and chassis products it supplies to more than 40 OEM firetruck manufacturers.

“In addition to producing cabs designed for final-stage manufacturing, this initiative further protects Spartan from potential supplier disruptions in our changing economic climate,” said Daryl Adams, president/CEO of Spartan Motors.

This initiative will further Spartan's vertical integration strategy for efficiencies and savings and result in reduced material costs and freight savings.
