Beckwood receives contract for two servo-driven, electromechanical presses

Beckwood Press Co., St. Louis, a manufacturer of custom hydraulic presses, automation systems, and precision forming equipment, has been awarded a contract to manufacture two 13-ton, servo-driven, electromechanical presses for use by a footwear manufacturer in a trimming application.

The 40- by 50- by 158-in. presses feature a monolithic frame, quick die clamps, 13-in. stroke, and a knockout cylinder mounted inside the ram weldment to strip the part after it is trimmed. Using a Parker XFC electromechanical actuator to drive the main ram and a load cell to monitor force feedback, the presses will have an average cycle time of 2.5 sec. or less.
