Johnson Bros. Metal Forming president dies

Edwin Johnson Jr.

Edwin Johnson Jr., president of Johnson Bros. Metal Forming Co., died on March 30, 2017.

Johnson began helping his father at the company in 1947. After returning from service in the U.S. Army after college, he laid out the toolroom and roll forming areas of the company’s new shop in Bellwood, Ill. He worked in the production and tooling departments, as well as accounting and administration. In 1958, when the business was incorporated, Johnson, who held an MBA, became treasurer and vice president.

In the 1960s he became one of the founding board members of the Custom Roll Forming Institute. In 1964, Johnson designed a new building, offices, and shop in Berkeley, Ill. He was named president of the company after his father’s death in 1988 and stayed in the financial area of the business until January 2017.
