Set Enterprises orders Schuler blanking line

Automotive supplier Set Enterprises, Sterling Heights, Mich., has ordered a Schuler laser blanking line for its facility in Chicago.

Set Enterprises supplies blanks and slit multiples to the domestic automotive industry. Its customers include automotive OEMs, Tier-1 stampers, and large automotive sheet mills. The company will use the 12-kW laser blanking line to produce blanks for exposed and unexposed automotive stampings beginning in 2019. Line installation will begin this summer, with the operational handoff scheduled for the spring.

The system features DynamicFlow technology, with three laser heads that can cut blank shapes of all types simultaneously, with straight line cutting speeds of more than 100 MPM, from a coil-fed, continuously forward-moving strip of coiled metal, itself traveling at speeds up to 60 MPM.
