Steelhead Composites increases metal spin-forming capabilities

Golden, Colo.-based Steelhead Composites has announced additional capabilities in spin forming. The company has modified machinery and invested in tooling that allows it to form a variety of metals either as stand-alone cylinders or composite-overwrapped pressure vessels.

The company’s standard products use aluminum liners which are then reinforced with composites. For applications in which aluminum is not optimal, the company uses advanced material analysis and design capabilities to manufacture a wider variety of seamless cylinders with characteristics specific to the customer’s application.
