Beckwood delivers servo-electric and hydraulic presses to solid-state battery supplier

Beckwood Press Co., a St. Louis manufacturer of custom hydraulic and servo-electric presses, automation systems, and precision forming equipment, has delivered a 500-ton, hydraulic, four-post press and a 50-ton servo-electric press to a U.S. manufacturer of solid-state batteries used in electric vehicles.

The 500-ton compression molding press is being used to heat and laminate the batteries with consistent temperatures up to 250 degrees F via a hot oil system. It is equipped with a load cell for precise force feedback.

The customized 50-ton servo-electric press is being used to assemble the batteries. It also has electrically heated platens that can reach 250 degrees F for laminating the batteries.
