Jones Metal Products celebrates 100 years in business

Established in 1923 on the site of a former metal stamping and porcelain enameling company, Jones Metal Products is marking 100 years in business in West Lafayette, Ohio.

In the beginning, Frank E. Jones shifted the company’s focus to hospital sick room utensils and lighting reflectors with core strengths in stamping and enameling. His son-in-law, Ed Mulligan, later led the company to purchase a Cincinnati hydroforming machine, gaining the company customers in the aerospace, commercial lighting, and cookware industries. With the increase in business through hydroforming, the company closed its porcelain enameling operation and sold the lighting segment of the business.

Today, Jones Metal has complex hydroforming capabilities and can produce geometric shapes that may be challenging for other operations. The facility has 3- and 5-axis lasers, 3- and 5-axis machining centers, two aluminum drop-bottom furnaces, and a Nadcap-accredited vacuum furnace for aluminum heat treating.
