Andes Coil Processors adds slitting capability, space

Andes Coil Processors LLC has announced that its Gary, Ind., steel toll processing facility has increased its slitting capability with the installation of a third slitter. The 60-in. slitter is a fully refurbished Loopco machine.

The addition of the slitter to the existing 72- and 60-in. lines has expanded the facility’s ability to process material on three slitters running five shifts with capabilities between 0.011 and 0.1875 in. thick, up to 72-in.-wide master coils, and as narrow as 0.625 in.

The company also has added 19,000 sq. ft. of storage and production space with a 25-ton overhead crane in its Gary production facility, providing storage capacity for an additional 12,000 tons of master coil.
