Commercial Metals Co. acquires U.S. rebar assets from Gerdau

Commercial Metals Co., Irving, Texas, has completed the acquisition of 33 rebar fabrication facilities and several steel mills from Gerdau S.A., a producer of long and specialty steel products. The steel mills are located in Knoxville, Tenn.; Jacksonville, Fla.; Sayreville, N.J.; and Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. Commercial Metals Co. and its subsidiaries manufacture, recycle, and market steel and metal products, related materials, and services through a network of facilities that includes eight electric arc furnace (EAF) minimills, two EAF micromills, a rerolling mill, steel fabrication and processing plants, construction-related product warehouses, and metal recycling facilities in the U.S. and Poland.
