Grand Steel Products appoints president/COO

Grand Steel Products Inc., a flat-rolled steel service center and steel distributor located in Wixom, Mich., has named Michael Barnett as president/COO.

A graduate of Western Michigan University with a degree in finance and economics, Barnett joined the company in early 2006 and has overseen the purchase of an operations building in 2008, purchase and installation of a slitting line in 2011, and office renovations and additions in 2014. He also assisted in the formation of Barnett Industrial Properties and Grand Steel Transport, of which he is a partner, as well as the addition of Steel Testing Laboratory, which performs mechanical and chemical testing.

Barnett also is a director on the advisory board of the Association of Steel Distributors (ASD), a technology affiliate of Fabricators & Manufacturers Association Intl.
