HME announces Kansas expansion

Haas Metal Eng., a provider of structural steel and custom metal fabrication, has announced plans to expand in Topeka, Kan., beginning in late 2020. The $6 million expansion is expected to create up to 167 jobs.

The first phase will add 36,000 sq. ft. and new equipment to the company’s paint shop and welding facilities. Phase two will add 16,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing space for producing handrails, stairs, and ladders. In the third phase, the company will build a 60,000-sq.-ft. manufacturing facility to produce heavy iron structural beams and columns.
