Mill Steel Co. consolidates Building/Painted Products division to new Indiana location
- February 8, 2016
- News Release
- Metals/Materials
Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Mill Steel Co., a distributor of flat-rolled carbon steel, has moved its Building/Painted Products Midwest operations from its Jeffersonville, Ind., plant to its recently acquired service center in Anderson, Ind. Mill Steel expects to complete the division’s move by the end of April 2016.
This relocation is in concert with Mill Steel's previously announced consolidation of its Steel Structural Products (Louisville) steel framing and accessory operations to its Ports of Indiana – Jeffersonville location. The additional move of the Building/Painted Products Midwest operations will enhance distribution, processing, and logistics capabilities for painted metal roll forming customers in the mid-South and Midwest markets, according to the company. The move also will enhance the production capabilities of the Jeffersonville plant serving Mill Steel's growing base of automotive, construction, appliance, transportation, and tubing customers.
Mill Steel expects to reorganize the 220,000-sq.-ft. Anderson steel service center plant's capabilities, creating up to 100,000 sq. ft. of processing and distribution space for its Painted Products division. This reorganization will not diminish any of the plant's current slitting, cut-to-length, or level capabilities, which will be performed in the location's remaining 120,000 sq. ft.
