NISCO to establish research institute at University of Leicester

NISCO, a joint venture of China-based companies Fosun Intl. and Nanjing Iron and Steel Group, has announced that a joint NISCO-UK Research Institute will be established at the University of Leicester in the Department of Engineering. The joint venture will support the center for an initial period of five years.

The center’s collaborative, jointly funded by Innovate UK and the Chinese government, also has announced funding to develop a super-slab technology to produce extra-thick casting steel slabs for use in harsh environments with applications for wind turbines and marine environments.
