Primetals Technologies appoints CEO/chairman

London-based Primetals Technologies Ltd., a worldwide engineering, manufacturing, and life cycle services provider for the metals industry, has named Satoru Iijima as CEO and chairman of the board, effective April 1. Since 2015 he has served as president/CEO of Primetals Technologies USA LLC. Iijima succeeds Yasukuni Yamasaki, who will continue to serve on the board of directors.

Iijima began his career with Mitsubishi Corp. in 1986 in the heavy machinery department in Tokyo. From 1990 to 2014, he held project development, export business, and machinery systems management positions with Primetals Technologies in Tokyo; Dusseldorf, Germany; and Chicago. Iijima holds a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Waseda University.
