Advanced Heat Treat Corp. breaks ground on new addition
- June 11, 2018
- News Release
- Shop Management
Advanced Heat Treat Corp. (AHT) has broken ground on a new, 15,000-sq.-ft. expansion at its corporate headquarters in Waterloo, Iowa. The addition will allow the company to segregate its UltraGlow® (ion nitriding/nitrocarburizing) and UltraOx® (gaseous ferritic nitriding/nitrocarburizing and oxidation treatment) processes.
The company also will add two new gaseous ferritic nitriding/nitrocarburizing units. The larger unit (13 by 5 ft.) will accommodate longer products, while the smaller unit (4 by 5 ft.) will handle aerospace products. The second unit is targeted for Nadcap approval by late 2018 or early 2019. This will give the company two Nadcap-approved processes: ion nitriding and gaseous nitriding.
“This expansion will allow us better control of product flow, inventory control, and process capacity,” said William Cowell, vice president of ion nitriding and plant manager. “We’ll be nearly doubling our gaseous nitriding capacity with these additional units, and with the floor space, we’ll be able to better accommodate our customer demands.”
