Ansys acquires 3DSIM
Ansys Inc., a provider of engineering simulation software based in Pittsburgh, has acquired 3DSIM, a Park City, Utah-based developer of additive manufacturing (AM) simulation technology. According to Ansys, the acquisition gives the company the industry's only complete AM simulation workflow.
The companies report that the combined Ansys-3DSIM simulation system will help mitigate problems with material melting and deformation in AM, leading to lighterweight, stronger components in the future.
