AKS Cutting Systems president to retire; successor named

Cleveland-based AKS Cutting Systems, a subsidiary of Kiffer Industries and provider of CNC plasma cutting, oxyfuel cutting, waterjet cutting, and fiber laser cutting equipment, has announced the retirement of Dale Phillip, president/CEO, effective May 31. He will remain chairman of the board until December 2017.

Dale’s son Greg Phillip, vice president since 2005, will assume the role of president/CEO effective June 1. He joined Kiffer Industries in 1989 as a graduate of Eastern Michigan University with a bachelor’s degree in business. Dale’s son Kent Phillip, current vice president, will assume the role of COO.

Dale Phillip has been active in the company for more than 52 years and the company’s president/CEO since 1975. He joined Kiffer Tool & Die (later Kiffer Industries), owned by his father-in-law Stanley Midnight, in 1965. Phillip has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Case Western Reserve University.
