Fel-Pro Gaskets marks 100 years in business

Fel-Pro® Gaskets, a Southfield, Mich.-based provider of sealing technology for professional technicians, engine builders, racing teams, enthusiasts, and do-it-yourselfers, celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2018. Fel-Pro is a brand of Federal-Mogul Motorparts, a global manufacturer of original equipment and replacement components for automotive, commercial vehicle, performance, agricultural, and industrial applications.

The 100th anniversary celebration includes numerous customer-focused activities, culminating in an industry and community open house on July 21, 2018, at the company’s engineering, manufacturing, and distribution complex in Skokie, Ill.

Founded July 5, 1918, in Chicago, the company initially produced felt-based seals for the Ford Model T. During the 1970s the firm introduced its blue gasket materials and Blue Stripe® design. The company was acquired in 1998 by Federal-Mogul, which has invested millions of dollars in the equipment necessary to develop and manufacture PermaTorque® multilayered-steel (MLS) head gaskets.

Today the company’s products include head gaskets; fluoroelastomer-encapsulated intake manifold gaskets; and sealing products for timing covers, valve covers, and water outlets.
