GAWDA awards 11 scholarships to students working toward welding/gas industry careers

For the fifth year in a row, the Gases and Welding Distributors Association (GAWDA), Hollywood, Fla., has awarded scholarships to high school students who are planning programs of study they can use in welding and gases distribution industry careers.

The following 11 students received $2,000 scholarships:

  • Dakota Akins of Katy, Texas - Texas Welding School & Tech
  • Kyle Blommer of St. Cloud, Minn. - University of Minnesota
  • Douglas Bolinger of Pierceton, Ind. - Ferris State University
  • Andrew Colston of Fremont, Ohio - Capital University
  • McKenzie Colston of Fremont, Ohio - Xavier University
  • Carrie Cota of Roundup, Mont. - Rocky Mountain College
  • Zach Poticny of Tuscaloosa, Ala. - University of Alabama
  • Joshua Shubert of Oakwood, Ga. - Brenau University
  • Stuart Thorburn of Richmond, Ky. - Bluegrass Community & Tech College
  • Kami Tuohy of Meridian, Idaho - College of Western Idaho
  • Brianna Wukawitz of Cottage Grove, Minn. - University of Minnesota

Scholarship applicants must be an employee or a child of an employee of an active GAWDA member company.
