MPG closes Brillion Iron Works foundry as part of optimization strategy

Metaldyne Performance Group Inc. (MPG), Southfield, Mich., a provider of components for use in powertrain and suspension applications for the light, commercial, and industrial vehicle markets, has announced the planned closure of Brillion Iron Works, which it recently acquired from Accuride Corp.

The foundry in Brillion, Wis., will cease molding and melt operations in Q4 2016, eliminating 293 hourly and 49 salaried jobs. Transfer opportunities will be made available to relocate employees to other MPG locations as opportunities exist.

The existing Brillion business will be transferred to five MPG casting plants located in Browntown, Wis.; Reedsburg, Wis.; St. Cloud, Minn.; Iron Mountain, Mich.; and New Castle, Ind.
