Nissan lays off fewer employees in Mississippi than expected

Nissan Motor Co. has cut 381 contractors from its van and truck production plant in Canton, Miss. The company had previously projected as many as 700 layoffs. No direct Nissan employees were affected.

The automaker cut production of NV passenger and cargo vans from two shifts to one in January and cut production of Titan and Frontier pickups from three shifts to two in February.
