NJMEP heads to Washington, D.C., for annual Hill Day

The New Jersey Manufacturing Extension Program (NJMEP), the nonprofit organization that provides resources and support to the state's manufacturing companies, has announced that CEO John Kennedy and several of NJMEP's manufacturing clients are headed to Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., March 6-9, for Hill Day. They will meet with New Jersey congressional and senate members to urge legislative support for New Jersey manufacturing and the Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) network.
Hill Day is an annual event for Manufacturing Extension Partnerships (MEPs) to meet with their respective congressional members on the importance of manufacturing to the U.S. economy. This year New Jersey's manufacturing presence will be bigger than ever as NJMEP's clients join the effort. In New Jersey there are about 245,600 people employed in the manufacturing sector, a total manufacturing output of $44.52 billion and more than 15,000 manufacturing and STEM firms.
"Manufacturing is directly in the middle of so many major policy debates, and that's why our visit to Washington is so important," said Kennedy. “NJMEP is looking to partner with our legislators to find solutions that ensure MEPs continue to help sustain and grow the manufacturing sector. We need their help to create a better business environment to improve the competitiveness of the manufacturing sector.”
