Nucor to build plate mill in Kentucky

Nucor Corp., Charlotte, N.C., will build a new, $1.35 billion steel plate mill in Brandenburg, Ky. The mill, which will be able to produce 1.2 million tons per year of steel plate products, is expected to be fully operational in 2022, employing more than 400 people.

The mill will produce cut-to-length, coiled, heat-treated, and discrete plate from 60 to 160 in. wide, in gauges from 3/16 to 14 in.
