Polaris to close Iowa plant

Polaris Industries has announced plans to close its plant in Milford, Iowa, which manufactures all-terrain and utility vehicles, by the end of 2017. Production of the vehicles will be moved to the company’s facilities in Huntsville, Ala.; Roseau, Minn.; and Anaheim, Calif.

The Milford location will become a warehouse facility to support the Spirit Lake, Iowa, plant, which manufactures Indian Motorcycles.

In addition, the company will move metal fabrication operations for its Pro Armor aftermarket products from its facility in Riverside, Calif., to the recently acquired Transamerican Auto Parts facility in Chula Vista, Calif. Pro Armor will maintain its presence in Riverside, but will relocate to a new building.

Together, these two production moves will eliminate about 390 jobs.
