Proto Labs reaches agreement to acquire Rapid Mfg. Group

Maple Plain, Minn.-based Proto Labs, a provider of rapid prototyping and on-demand production of custom parts and assemblies using 3-D printing, CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, and injection molding processes, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire privately held company Rapid Mfg. Group LLC, a New Hampshire-based custom parts supplier specializing in quick-turn sheet metal fabrication and CNC machining.

Rapid Mfg. operates in 140,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing space and employs about 300 people. The addition of these employees will expand the Proto Labs staff to more than 2,000 employees worldwide.
