Solar Atmospheres installs vacuum gas nitriding furnace

Solar Atmospheres, Souderton, Pa., has installed a new vacuum gas nitriding furnace built by sister company Solar Manufacturing.

The front-loading furnace features automated controls that meet AMS2759/10 and AMS2759/6 standards. The control system is suitable for single-stage and two-stage processing. All hot-zone components are made completely of graphitic materials inert to the anhydrous ammonia used during the nitriding process.

In addition to a forced gas cooling system, the furnace incorporates a convection heating system.
