Spirit AeroSystems creates 5-axis fabrication center

Spirit AeroSystems, a fabricator of aerospace parts, has created a new center focusing on the fabrication of complex commercial and military aircraft parts. Located at the company’s headquarters in Wichita, Kan., the center includes new 5-axis machines to manufacture complex aluminum and titanium parts.

The $30 million center includes 120 different machine tools. It uses high-speed technology to specialize in large, complex parts for fuselage, pylon, and wing structures.
