Starrett hosts second Manufacturing Day event

The L.S. Starrett Co. hosted its second annual Manufacturing Day on Oct. 12, 2018, at its corporate headquarters and manufacturing complex in Athol, Mass.

The event drew 150 visitors who toured the facility to see manufacturing processes such as precision micrometer assembly, tumbling, laser engraving, and photochemical reproduction. Attendees also visited other service departments where they spoke with staff in drafting, marketing, and information technology. At the conclusion of the tour, visitors had a hands-on opportunity to assemble a Starrett Center Punch.

Douglas A. Starrett, president/CEO, remarked, “It is extremely important to encourage students and other professionals to pursue careers in manufacturing, in order to build and sustain a skilled workforce in our society.”
