Wemo to open U.S. facility

Wemo's new U.S. facility is scheduled to be in operation by early 2020. Wemo

Wemo, a manufacturer of sheet metal processing lines, has announced plans to set up a U.S. location. For the past 20 years, the company has served the U.S. market from its office and production facility in the Netherlands.

To establish an independent North American operation for sales and service, the company has discontinued working with its agent, Automated Fabrication Systems, which has previously distributed Wemo equipment.

The new U.S. facility, scheduled to be in operation by early 2020, will include sales engineers, service engineers, marketing staff, and office support, led by Johan Poorthuis, vice president of business development. Its focus will be on clients in five sectors: shelving systems, steel cabinets, steel doors, ceiling tiles, and wall systems.

"We are missing a physical basis in the USA," Poorthuis said. "We will put together a Wemo sales team as well as a dedicated service organization located in North America that is very actively involved with customer demands, campaigns, visits, and follow up on a daily basis, to make sure we fathom the market, locate opportunities, and make the intended growth possible."
