MG Srl, together with Ariostea MHS Srl, has built a line for the production of silos at the operational site. The traditional method is to build a silo in sections, transport the sections to the final location, and then assemble and weld them together. With the new system, built for a Japanese company, silos can be made and assembled on-site, eliminating preassembly, disassembly, and transport costs.

Placed on a base with dimensions suitable for transport on a standard truck, the line comprises three MG machines: a leveling machine, a forming machine, and a plate rolling machine. The material first runs through the leveler, where it is straightened. The forming machine then folds the material’s edges to create angles, which are welded in a later step. Finally, the material goes through the plate rolling machine, which creates the bending radius. An advanced radius control system from Delsy is mounted on the exit side of the plate rolling machine.

Ariostea technology then is used to weld the spiral material at every turn to obtain the desired height. The silo then is anchored to the ground, the bottom part inserted, and the upper cap assembled.
