Prelube oil designed for use with ultrahigh-strength steels

Zeller + Gmelin has developed Multidraw PL 61 SE, a second-generation prelube oil designed for forming high-strength and ultrahigh-strength steel grades in autobody applications.

The oil is compatible with downstream processes of the painted body and offers improved tribological properties, in particular on hot-dip galvanized surfaces. Its application to the rolling mill allows press shops to operate without additional lubrication, which must be eventually removed through a cleaning process before painting.

In tests comparing this oil to the first-generation oil, the new version reduced tensile forces under maximum stress by nearly 11 percent, and 7 percent as the stress went down by 10 percent.
