Blackening system provides in-house, room-temperature finishing in 20 min.

Birchwood Technologies has introduced the BC40 Presto Black finishing system. The seven-tank process line, with 20-min. room-temperature blackening capabilities, comes with a tank system, heaters, plumbing connections, and tank lids. The addition of the manufacturer’s preconfigured ion exchange system to purify and recycle rinse waters makes a closed-loop, zero-discharge operation and eliminates environmental concerns.

The system uses seven individual tanks, each measuring 16 by 24 by 24 in. deep, and occupies a footprint of just 3 by 15 ft. The tanks are made of nearly unbreakable, heavyweight, high-density polypropylene and polyethylene.

The line produces a satin black finish and often can be operated by workers in adjoining machining cells without the addition of new employees.
